Elton and Karen Anderson
Funeral Directors and Owners
Elton B. Anderson, Jr. "Andy" is a Brenham native, having attended Brenham High School and Blinn College. He began his career with Brenham Memorial Chapel in 1970, serving as a funeral attendant. He received his funeral service education from Commonwealth College of Sciences and received his license in 1973. The Anderson family acquired Brenham Memorial Chapel in 1977 from its original owners Edward and Annie Gall. Elton is a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served on the financial council. He is a member of: the Brenham Rotary Club, being a Paul Harris Fellow; Hospice Brazos Valley Board of Directors; the Texas Polled Hereford Association; and the American Hereford Association. He is also a former member of the Brenham Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as secretary-treasurer and was named 1975 Fireman of the Year. Elton is a former president of the Washington County Little League Association, former director of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and a former committee chairman of Boy Scout Troop 577.

Karen Anderson was born Karen Schwartz in Brenham, Texas and was educated at South Houston High School and San Jacinto College in Pasadena. She is a 1976 graduate of the University of Texas School of Nursing in Houston. She returned to Brenham in 1976 working as a registered nurse at Bohne Memorial Hospital (presently Trinity Medical Center) and later at the Brenham Clinic Association up until 1995. In 1998, she entered Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service and received her funeral director’s license in 2000. Karen is a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she serves on the church council and serves on the Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village Advisory Council. She is also a member of Washington County A&M Mothers' Club.

Elton and Karen have three sons: Matthew, who is married to Jennifer Gessner Anderson, both graduates of Sam Houston State University; William, a recent graduate of Texas A&M University; and Brian, a sophomore at Texas A&M University.


Bradley Goble
Funeral Director
Brad Goble was born in Columbia City, Indiana in 1962. He received a B.S. in Public Affairs from Indiana University-Bloomington, Indiana - 1986; an A.A.S. in Funeral Service with distinction from Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service-Houston, Texas - 2001. Brad is a military veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force as an Executive Officer, Section Commander and Operations Officer. He moved to Brenham in June of 2007 after serving as a Funeral Director in Kerrville, TX. Brad is a member of Buddy Wright Post #48 of the American Legion in Brenham; a Master Mason in Graham Lodge #20, A.F.&A.M. in Brenham and Rising Star Lodge #429, A.F.&A.M. in Center Point, TX; a life member of the Air Force Association; and a member of the Jewish Community of the Hill Country.

Bill Winkelmann
Funeral Director
Bill Winkelmann is a graduate of Brenham High School and attended Blinn College. He is also a 1972 graduate of Commonwealth College of Sciences in Houston. He has been associated with Brenham Memorial Chapel for the past 36 years. Bill serves as the First Assistant Chief of the Brenham Fire Department. He is married to Karen Vesper Winkelmann. They have four children.

Troy Arndt is a graduate of Bellville High School and Blinn College. He is a 1987 graduate of Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. He has a daughter Bethany.
